My Morning Joe With Jesus

Many of us drink Coffee in the morning. We really do not even focus until after the first cup or two. The day in front of us starts to take shape in our minds. I try to encourage myself to focus on what is important. Yes, Jesus is the first most important object I try to focus on.

I say, "I love you Jesus!"

It's a simple prayer, but if said with a smile from my heart it makes a big difference. It reminds me to make all that I say and do that day as an expression of love for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Many of us do this every day without thinking. When leaving for work "I love you" - "I love you too". When You are on the phone with people you love. One of the last things you say is "I love You". We think affectionately about our significant others – or wish that we felt that way… or wish that we had a significant other! You Do! How about thinking of your Significant Other: Jesus! How about sending a love note to Jesus?

It Can Change Your Whole Day!

e need a clear understanding of God's love and His purpose for love. From the depths of His soul to the depths of our souls, where He first planted His passion. He wants us to know that whatever trial or tribulation we endure, there will be many; love conquers all and covers a multitude of sins.

There are a lot of things we say that we "love" – like chocolate cake! But really we just desire to eat it! Despite what our culture teaches us, love is not a matter of desire or feeling; it's a choice and an orientation of the heart to will good for someone else, regardless of how you feel toward them. Then, when we love, our feelings will be moved in positive directions.

Can't Do It On Our Own!

But we can't love in our own strength; we can't will good for others just by trying hard. "We love because God first loved us," the Apostle reminds us (1 John 4:19). We love by learning to rely on God so that his love flows into us and through us to others.

Mel Huyard (now with jesus) has been like a spiritual father to me for many years. We need mature spiritual mentors in our lives to pass the torch. His spirit lives in me. His enthusiastic devotion to Jesus taught me that worship is really very simple; it's saying to God: "I love you because ______."

How about writing Jesus a Love Letter? Or just begin to pray right now, "Jesus, I love you because _______." Worship the Lord. Cultivate your longing for God so your soul can live and breathe in God's kingdom now and forever!

The God of this universe lavishes grace and mercy on us, with His endless love. "You, my precious child, represent love. You are loved. You embody my passion at a level others may never comprehend. I have fed your heart, spirit, and soul directly with my love. You shall bring forth my glory, teach and empower the spirits and hearts of my children with my passion." As You pour your next "Cup of Joe" allow Jesus To Pour His Love inside of you (Psalms 119:32-56). Then, and only then, are you ready for the day.

One important thing to learn early on about prayer is that it truly is a conversation. Just as God really does speak to us in his word, he is also really listening when we pray. It may just feel like journaling out loud at times, but there is always someone on the other side of prayer . . .
