A New Name A New Name To Be Free From Shame

Shame is a Lair!

I’ve discovered that many people are dying slowly in a secret tomb of shame. Some are ashamed of their poor financial condition, plagued with guilt about their irresponsible spending and debt. Others are ashamed about sexual sin from their past. Many carry extreme guilt with them into their future relationships. Countless people are crippled by the shame of secret addictions. Some people even live with false guilt after suffering as victims of sexual abuse.

Shame is devious. It whispers that you don’t measure up. It burrows deep in your soul and convinces you that you’re flawed, inferior, hopelessly damaged. Some people say it is an "emotion" we feel. I disagree, I believe it is a tool Satan uses to control our minds and keep us from the real world of Freedom in Jesus Christ.

The evil one loves to put us in the prison of shame and stop us from truly believing what it means to be redeemed and restored. Because we hold on to our sense of inadequacy, we decline to testify to God’s love. Maybe you know you’re forgiven by Jesus’ saving work on the cross. But because of your past you don’t feel qualified to tell people about Him. You shut up instead of share. That is how Satan wins. We all have something to share with another person who needs to hear it from you.

He Without Sin Cast The First Stone.

Society wants to point fingers at people. Hey look what you did, you should be ashamed, you do not belong. The strange thing is, it is not about you, its about them. Some how it makes them feel better about themselves. One of my favorite stories is in John 8.

Title: The woman in darkness

John Chapter 8

2 And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the worry free people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them.

3 And the scribes and the Pharisees *brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the midst,

4 they *said to Him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act.

5 "Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?"

6 And they were saying this, testing Him, in order that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground.

7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

8 And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And when they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.

10 And straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"

11 And she said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go your way. From now on sin no more."}

12 Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."

The real target of this story is a problem in the human soul: self-righteousness. Self-righteousness is the degenerate outgrowth of something that would otherwise be extremely valuable: a desire to be in the right. The problem is that being in the right in some areas has a tendency for us to see ourselves as morally blameless. People become mean-spirited and inhuman towards those who have transgress in situations where they have been good. Our position on, say, the economy, or poverty or the right way to run a household can give us grounds for viewing ourselves as morally blameless in and of ourselves – a stance from where cruelty can follow.

So this tool Satan uses is not shame it is Self-righteousness. We see it all around us. Sadly, we feel it as shame, because we are not good enough. The Truth is....Wait for it.....We All Come Short  there is no one righteous. No Not one. We all are sinners and we all need the saving power of Jesus. When it come right down to it no on was able to cast that first stone. The only person who could was Jesus and he was not condemning the women.

So, when people try to point their finger at you remember the old saying that there are always three fingers pointing back at themselves. While we may always remember what happened, we need to believe that we are not what happened. We are who God says we are — new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). When we reject what our shame says about us, we can finally hear what God says about us. He is working in all things to bring about good in our lives because we love God and are called according to his purposes (Romans 8:28).

I hope this has helped you in some way with your battle against shame.Do not believe the lies of the evil. God wants more for you than you can possibly imagine. He has a plan for you and it is for good not evil. God Has a whole new name just for you. A Name To Be Free From Shame. He will never take your shame away. We need to release it Knowing that he already took the shame and nailed it to the cross. As long as we keep saying my shame, my life, my regrets, then we own them. Jesus is the only one who can accuse us of wrong doing. What does he say "I do not condemn you. Go and sin no more! Amen
